(Lima).- The plenary session of Congress issued an opinion that modifies the regulation law for the exploitation of online gaming and sports betting, with the purpose of ensuring national tax collection. Both companies incorporated abroad as well as Peruvian ones must be taxpayers with all the consequences that this implies.

Vale pointed out that, currently, Law No. 31557 in force, clearly left unregulated companies in this field not domiciled in Peru. The winemakers were obliged to assume the guarantees and have an exclusive space for this activity. This harmed more than 700,000 families.
The signature of the law has already been sent to President Dina Boluarte for its promulgation. The deadline to observe it expires on June 28.
It is necessary to highlight that the opinion has the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), the competent portfolio for this purpose. Sports betting and online betting houses will all pay taxes equally, whether they are foreign or Peruvian and this will result in greater income for the public treasury. In addition, it has been planned that a percentage will be allocated to the national mental health program.
In such a way, the State, for the first time, will receive income from this economic activity that in 2022 will end more than four billion soles.
This law, authored by congresswoman Lady Camones, was promoted by the Association of Winemakers of Peru and the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP). These institutions were harmed by the previous legislation, since it granted advantages to foreigners who move 70% of the money in the activity.
